Bak Kut Teh


Bak Kut Teh is a Chinese soup popularly served in Malaysia, Singapore, China, Taiwan, and Indonesia. The name literally translates as "bone meat tea". Bak kut teh is usually eaten with rice or noodles.

Preparation traditionally takes a while to gather all the spices and achieve the right balance for the perfect bak kut teh taste. Fortunately, with todays fast paced lifestyle, ready to cook bak kut teh spice mix can be purchased from any local supermarket.

Ingredients:
  • bak kut teh spice mix
  • 1/2 kg pork ribs
  • 2 whole cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 liter water
Preparation:
  1. Place 1 liter of water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Add in spice mix, pork ribs, and garlic.
  3. Continue boiling for 40 minutes until meat is tender.
Preparation time: 45 minutes

Serve hot plain with rice and light soy sauce on the side. Enjoy!
